According to Kristen Hong, anyone can organize their fridge and learn to keep foods longer; the instructions are included in Fridge Love: Organize Your Refrigerator for a Healthier, Happier Life―with 100 Recipes 。 The book has excellent instruction for making your fridge perfect。 Unfortunately, most people will find that while everything works as the author suggests, it isn’t really something that can be accomplished in real life。 Rather, a perfect fridge is for many, an aspect of dreamland。 Also, to follow the author’s suggestions by purchasing perfect containers, all the same, is quite expensive and will result in spending hundreds of dollars to get the fridge set up。Some of the best parts of this book are the chapters on keeping foods fresh。 The suggestions are good and they actually work。 The recipes in the book are nice, and most are very healthy。 They aren’t however, recipes that many mainstream cooks won’t want to make。While the idea is good, it doesn’t really seem like something that could be accomplished in real life, especially when most people have different things to put in their fridges。 Sometimes we crave food that isn’t on the list or won’t fit in the proper container。 All told, anyone who wants to have a perfectly organized, impeccably clean fridge, or anyone who has OCD will appreciate this book。 Many critics have given it 5 stars; what world are they living in? Once reality sets in, most will use many of the suggestions, but will realize that perfection isn’t possible for those of us who actually use our fridge to store food that doesn’t fit into the perfect containers。 The book has excellent information that almost everyone will appreciate, and it’s a book that will be very helpful for those who include it in their cookbook collection。 This isn’t a book for everyone。Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book。 。。。more

I picked up Fridge Love to check out primarily because my daughter has been attempting to organize our fridge。 She’s purchased containers and has started organizing it, but I thought this book would offer some ideas and inspirations for her that she hadn’t spotted on the internet。 As I started reading, I found there was quite a few helpful tips as well as some information that I found a little boring, and even the boring stuff I found informative。 Who knew how a fridge really worked! The suggestion and illustrations certainly were inspiring while I found several tasty recipes to try。 Really this book reads as a Fridge 101 and had me motivated enough to give my daughter suggestions。 And that’s when I lost possession of the book。 She took the book from me and devoured it。 It’s changed the way she shops, and our fridge is simply amazing now。 Got to say, I had my doubts about Fridge Love。 I thought it would be just a pretty book to flip through。 Instead it has become a new way of life for my family。 If you know someone looking to make a change in their kitchen, I definitely recommend this book。 Stars: 4I received this book from Netgalley。 I was not compensated for the book other than the entertainment it provided。 All thoughts and opinions are my own。 。。。more

Not only is this a beautiful book aesthetically, but it speaks practically for organizational sense to pursue a healthier way of eating。 I appreciated the history on preserving and cooling foods。 Prepping and planning meals is a great way to stay on budget and avoid waste。 Love, LOVE the tons of simple plant based recipes - already incorporating lots of these into my meal plans。

I dream of looking inside my refrigerator one day and seeing something similar to what is on these pages reflecting back at me。 This has not happened yet, but my dream is still alive。 I was impressed by the well-researched information regarding refrigerators and the food that we buy to go in it properly。 I say "properly" because I actually learned a lot about the correct way to store certain produce especially。 This book has changed my lettuce game for the better, and I formerly struggled with too-soon wilted lettuce on the regular。 But, not anymore。 Readers will also learn about what to look for when shopping in the grocery’s produce section to bring home the best, and ripest, choices。 Healthy eating could start in your refrigerator, but it really begins at the grocery store。 There is a wealth of good information here to get you on the right track。Then, after learning about how to choose and ultimately the proper storage of your groceries, there are recipes to use up your food AND meal prep strategies to make the most of your meals。 Hong promotes a Nutritarian eating style with lots of fruits and vegetables, so the recipes are plant-focused。I very much enjoyed this book and appreciated the consideration given to environmental and organic issues。 The only negative that I have is that my particular type of refrigerator model with a freezer on the bottom was not covered; because that would have made Fridge Love exactly what I needed。 (4。5 stars) 。。。more

Fridge Love by Kirsten HongThis book took me on a journey。 It reminded me of days when we did not have electricity and would freeze ice blocks to put in the fridge, of going through containers trying to find the “safe” ones, of trying to cook for a vegetarian daughter and a carnivore son, of trying to find ways to store all the produce from our garden and still find it in the fridge, and it reminded me of my personal journey to a healthier lifestyle although I did not follow the one this author Fridge Love by Kirsten HongThis book took me on a journey。 It reminded me of days when we did not have electricity and would freeze ice blocks to put in the fridge, of going through containers trying to find the “safe” ones, of trying to cook for a vegetarian daughter and a carnivore son, of trying to find ways to store all the produce from our garden and still find it in the fridge, and it reminded me of my personal journey to a healthier lifestyle although I did not follow the one this author chose for herself。 The book does a deep dive into the history of refrigerators, discusses the mechanics that they are based on, which part of the refrigerator is coldest, the types of refrigerators and how they vary, where to put different types of foods, storage container pros and cons, cleaning of the refrigerator – how often and how to do it, etc。There is a section on how to deal with produce from washing to preparing to storing of it that would be handy till one knew all the ins and outs of all the produce they were likely to put into their refridgeratorThe recipes were simple but tasty sounding and as a predominately plant based cook I always am on the lookout for recipes to try…there were a few in this book that I might be tempted by…if I am able to find the ingredients here in Lebanon。 The photographs were gorgeous and made me wish I had access to all of the containers in perfect sized with matching covers…don’t see that happening any time soon but it is nice to dream。 I admire the effort put into this book, the information shared, and the sincerity behind the author’s writing。 I know how difficult it can be to create meals daily for four people and not have them all on the same dietary program。 I would actually like to have a hard copy of this book in my kitchen to look through and to cook from because I much prefer hardcopy cookbooks to the ebook version。 I believe there is information that is valuable in the book but it is definitely geared more for the whole food plant-based whole food cook and perhaps for those earlier in their cooking history。 This is not just a food organization book or a cookbook but a bit of both with personal anecdotes and a lot about how refrigerators work。Thank you to NetGalley and Mariner Books for the ARC – This is my honest review。4 Stars 。。。more

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC of Fridge Love! I loved the beginning and learning about the anatomy of a very well organized and beautiful refrigerator。 As a mom of a fresh fridge I now see how much fresh we waste。 I loved the authors tips to keep everything fresh。 The cherry on top was the recipes towards the end。

This book is a guide to organizing your fridge with a lot of detail on how to store food (mostly product)。 A fantastic resource for people looking to eat more vegetables and fruit, a must have for those new to veganism or vegetarianism。 The author, Kristen Hong, runs a blog called “Hello Nutritarian”, inspired by Dr。 Fuhrman’s research and writings。 I was not previously familiar with her blog nor with the nutritarian diet, but it certainly makes a lot of sense for those who want to try it。 It’s This book is a guide to organizing your fridge with a lot of detail on how to store food (mostly product)。 A fantastic resource for people looking to eat more vegetables and fruit, a must have for those new to veganism or vegetarianism。 The author, Kristen Hong, runs a blog called “Hello Nutritarian”, inspired by Dr。 Fuhrman’s research and writings。 I was not previously familiar with her blog nor with the nutritarian diet, but it certainly makes a lot of sense for those who want to try it。 It’s a lot of whole foods and little to no sugar and oil。 The author lives by this lifestyle but her husband and two children do not, so she shares tips on making dinners for a family with different diets。But this book isn’t so much about what to eat as it is about how you can organize your fridge so it’s easy to grab healthy food when you’re hungry, and how to keep that food fresh。 The book also contains recipes。 My favorites that I want to try are “Chocolate Almond Dip” (a healthier version of Nutella), “Rainbow Collard Wraps” (a sandwich wrap using collards instead of a tortilla) and “Easy Potato Dal Curry”。I gave it 4 stars。 This book is released 2/1/22 from Mariner Books for Better Living。 Thank you to the publisher for this advanced release copy in exchange for my honest review。 。。。more

Her mission is not to convert the reader to a nutritarian diet, but to convert everyone's refrigerator to an appliance that helps keep its owners healthy。 Based on the level of obesity in the U。 S。, this is a worthy goal, and the book is an excellent resource for anyone interested in running a healthy kitchen。 There is more information than I wanted to know about refrigerators and how they work, but I admit it makes sense to know how the different models compare if you're serious about maximizing your food's shelf life。 I would have bumped this up to 5 stars if more of the recipes used fewer specialty ingredients。 In that sense, it is more of a nutritarian cookbook than an all-purpose, let's eat healthy cookbook。 Anyone with a nut allergy would have to rule out many of the recipes。 For my purposes, this is a book I'd like to take out of the library, but I don't think it would be worth a permanent spot on my bookshelf。 Thank you to NetGalley, Kristen Hong, and Mariner Books for an ARC of this book。 。。。more

Thank you for the chance to read through this book in exchange for honest feedback。This is exactly the type of book that I would check out from my library。 I am actually in the market for a new refrigerator right now so this is really valuable。In addition, I need to learn the content or read some suggestions。 I have seen videos, TikToks, Youtube videos, etc。 that are about house organization。 I try things and they usually work for a little while until I let them get disorganized again。 This is e Thank you for the chance to read through this book in exchange for honest feedback。This is exactly the type of book that I would check out from my library。 I am actually in the market for a new refrigerator right now so this is really valuable。In addition, I need to learn the content or read some suggestions。 I have seen videos, TikToks, Youtube videos, etc。 that are about house organization。 I try things and they usually work for a little while until I let them get disorganized again。 This is especially the case for my refrigerator。 It is especially important (in my view) to organize my fridge because 1) it keeps food organized, clean, and apparent to household; 2) if the methods work, it can help save money if I can keep food longer and store/use it properly。 So, I am happy to request this book and hopefully get a copy when I can。The cover is beautiful and appealing。 The content is definitely relevant and modern。 Lots of high quality, appealing IG-perfect pictures of different types of fridges -- the types that would fit for certain lifestyles, like food prep, lifestyle/diets, chopped/fresh, no-cook, etc。 There is some stuff about "how the fridge works," cleaning the fridge, types of containers, how to organize based on your personal fridge type (shelves, drawers, freezer etc), the lifecycle of food and prep needs (highly detailed), and then a large section of recipes。 This is one of the books that I would read every page and info, even if I think it's common sense because I need to learn! I believe constantly learning about this sort of thing helps improve lifestyle choices and habits。 I would definitely suggest this one for all homeowners or those in charge of buying/organizing food for their home。 。。。more
